Mary Frances just had a big birthday! She turned four years old a few weeks ago. My "baby" is a big girl now! She is loving being four, too. Any new thing she has done in the past few weeks (i.e. writing her name, swimming in the pool, etc.) has been attributed to the fact that she is now four years old! She is so proud of herself and she should be too. Those are all big things!
We had Mary Frances' four year well check up on Monday and she weighed 32 1/2 pounds and was 39 1/4 inches tall. Between 25-50% for each. She passed her hearing and eye exams and overall had a wonderful check up. She received three shots and did not even shed a tear! Wow! I was so proud (and shocked!). As a special treat I took her on a date to have her nails painted. She picked sparkly pink for her fingers and purple for her toes. Oh how I love her!

The year between three and four has been a big one. Over the past year I have seen Mary Frances grow in confidence by leaps and bounds. She went from a timid three year old to a very confident four year old and I love watching her grow into the little girl she is becoming. Some ways I have seen her growth are she seems more comfortable in new situations. She clings to me less and is more willing and excited to walk into a new place or try something new. Mary Frances also is more confident talking to adults and very quickly will talk their ear off! She loves her sweet little friends and it has also been fun to see her make new friends wherever she may be. I think that her Bible study class at BSF played a big part in her growth in confidence this year. She loved her teachers and they loved her. They prayed for her, played with her and taught her the love of Jesus. It was a special year!

Mary Frances also blossomed in physical growth this year as well. She continued with her ballet classes and did a wonderful job in her ballet recital this spring. Her teacher is very disciplined and this shows in the way she teaches her class. She is also a lot of fun and the girls all love her! I appreciate her dedication to teaching Mary Frances and her friends the correct way to stretch, correct terminology and technique. I could tell that Mary Frances became stronger as the year went on and she was able to use that muscle strength to climb and do new things at the park that she previously had not been able to do.
I have also had a fun time watching Mary Frances' personality develop. She is a
sweet girl. When Dr. Roe was doing her check up, he asked, "She's sweet, isn't she?" She sure is! Most of the time ;) I have noticed she is growing out of some of her three year old antics, like for instance, not smiling for the camera! Thankfully that phase is starting to pass! She is also moving past the phase of being contrary for the sake of being contrary. She is soaking up learning
everything and in the past month has become engrossed with writing and coloring. Oh, four is going to be fun!

Mary Frances is such a blessing to our family. I could write volumes about all of the things she is doing now. Instead, I think I'll have to write more posts related to those specific topics. We are so thankful for her little life and we can't imagine our family without her!
We love you, Mary Frances!
Love,
Katy
