Yummy in my Tummy!

So, I've been wanting to write a post about making Mary Frances' baby food and since I haven't been great at taking pictures in the last month and a half, I thought this would be a good time to do so.  I promise I am not Susie Homemaker or some totally granola girl.  A lot of my friends have made their baby food and for several reasons, I thought I would like to try and do it too.

Some of my reasons are it's cheaper, healthier, fun, etc.  I like doing it.  It does take some time on the front side but I make my food in batches so that once it's made I can sit back and relax at meal times.  I also like that I can offer Mary Frances organic food and it seems to be cheaper to make it than to buy actual organic baby food.  Don't misjudge me, though.  Paul and I definitely do not eat organic food (probably should, but we don't.).  Only the best for our baby girl :)

After dinner.  We tend to be a bit messy :)
Some things I have learned about making baby food...  Having a food processor is great!  Since we have been living with my parents, I have been using my mom's food processor.  Definitely worth it!  Will probably buy one when we get back into our house.  A lot of my friends have used baby cook machines.  I like using the food processor or blender because I can make a lot at once, freeze it in the Kidco ice trays, and just pop one out when I want to use it.  It is also great to make the food in batches.  Most things freeze well and once the food is frozen, I take the cubes out of the ice trays and put them in freezer safe Ziploc bags.  When it's meal time, I take out a cube or two, microwave, and dinner is ready!  Super easy!

I have also found some great resources.  Before the fire, I was using the book Super Baby Food.  I really just used it for information on when Mary Frances could eat certain foods and how to cook the food, etc.  After the fire (and without the book), I have found a very useful website called wholesomebabyfood.com.  It essentially has all of the information that the book did and it is very easy to navigate.  If you are looking to make your baby food, I highly recommend both sources!

So, that is really it :)  Nothing too exciting going on.  Will look forward to being in my kitchen again!  Here is what it looks like now.

Note, there is currently no ceiling.
Hoping that once we are finished it will look something like this!

White cabinets, dark counter tops, stainless steel appliances (I hope!)...  Something to look forward to :)

Love,
Katy
