Potty Time!

This week we have been doing a lot of sitting.  Mary Frances on the potty and me on the edge of the bathtub.  I have been contemplating potty training Mary Frances for a long time, setting it as a goal to accomplish before this baby comes in December.  I thought a lot about the best time to do it, worrying about whether she was ready for the task, best method to use, etc.  Well, I had a block of time with nothing scheduled last week and this week and I decided that it was finally time to ditch the diapers and potty train the little lady!  She has done great and exceeded my expectations, showing me she was definitely ready!

Where we have been spending a lot of our time!
I used the book Pottywise for Toddlers for tips on training.  It was so helpful and I would highly recommend it.  We basically offered a lot of salty snacks, treat rewards, and drinks the first two days.  We went to the potty probably every 20 - 30 minutes and spent a lot of time sitting, watching the iPad.  Gotta love the iPad!  Mary Frances had two pee pee accidents the very first day and has stayed dry ever since.  So proud!  She is pooping on the potty too, but we are still working out some kinks in that department.  Overall she is a champion and I couldn't be more pleased with our experience!

Fun fall art project one morning while staying home.

I am glad the first week of this motherhood "right of passage" is almost over, but also feel very rewarded with the effort we both put into it.  Next up on the "to do" list:  Big Girl Bed!

Love,
Katy
